The Flöz family

‘Dr Nest’, a wordless mask theatre performance

Dr Nest is roused by voices. But as he slowly comes round in the Villa Blanca sanatorium, he finds himself alone. A sense of unease creeps over him. What is he doing here? ‘Dr. Nest’ is a play about the fragility, the malleability and the creative power of the human psyche.

In search of certainty, he clings to fragments of his memory – the life he has left behind. As a young doctor, he now confidently takes up a new post. Driven by an empathetic thirst for knowledge, he encounters the strange and enigmatic phenomena of his patients: bodies with a life of their own, split personalities, compulsive confusions, demons and delusions. What initially alienates him soon appears to him as a ludicrous mirror of his own doubts and insecurities. The fine line between normal and not normal, between conscious and driven, shifts ceaselessly like the walls of the stage set. Courageously, Dr Nest follows his inner voice and enters a dark labyrinth in search of closeness – and of himself.
