The relationship between the Kawésqar of southern Chile and the Iivid of East Greenland began with an encounter in 2024. The impetus came from the Finnish geographer Annukka Pekkarinen, who organised an initial meeting. She invited the Kawésqar siblings Francisco González and Pamela González on a sailing trip to East Greenland. In Tasiilaq, they met Iivi Dines Mikaelsen and other residents. The Kawésqar and the Iivid recognised one another as kin. From this first encounter grew a desire to deepen the connection and share their experiences with others. This led to the creation of this joint exhibition as a space for dialogue, exchange and mutual learning.
