The Christian faith as a way of life

Everyday life, rituals and religious experience

Christianity in the early Middle Ages was initially a religion of the powerful; its God was regarded as the God of victory. After the turn of the millennium, however, ordinary people also began to demand a place of their own in religious life. There was a growing desire for an authentic life in accordance with the Gospel, as well as for an emotional connection to the Crucified One. Over the 1,000 years of the Middle Ages, Christianity underwent a profound transformation. This lecture provides an overview of this development.
