How governments try to influence us and what role the media play
There is widespread fear of foreign interference. Could state actors influence election results and stoke political tensions? This presentation provides an insight into how influence operations work. Examples will be used to show why influence is not limited to deepfakes or disinformation. The presentation will also examine the role of the media, some of which become tools of foreign actors themselves.
