During the High and Late Middle Ages, Eastern Switzerland boasted an impressive landscape of castles, with Thurgau being particularly rich in them. This evening lecture will explore why this was the case and what a castle ruin and the objects found within it reveal to archaeologists, centuries later, about its appearance and its inhabitants.
