Hieroglyphic Writing – Part II
With the fall of the Pharaonic Empire, knowledge of the meaning of hieroglyphs was lost. It was not until the 19th century that the sacred symbols of Ancient Egypt were deciphered once again. In this course, we will build on our basic understanding of the meaning of hieroglyphs and learn the fundamentals of Middle Egyptian grammar. Using what we have learnt, we will be able to decipher short inscriptions on monuments and artefacts.
