On the Wrong Track – Duo MeierMoser & Huber
A musical and theatrical exploration with an open-ended conclusion.
Once again, a wide range of instruments is used – from the trumpet, clarinet and baritone saxophone, through the ukulele, concertina and toy piano, to jaw harps, the angklung and the singing saw. Stylistically, the spectrum ranges from Guillaume Dufay through a wide variety of soundscapes to minimal music.
Literarily, the three gentlemen draw on Georg Christoph Lichtenberg’s legendary ‘Sudelbücher’, in which the Göttingen professor of physics spent decades jotting down all manner of observations and questions, both plausible and implausible:
‘I tossed all manner of thoughts around in my head until, at last, the following came to the fore.’
Armed with such Lichtenbergian flashes of inspiration, the result is a delightful evening of musical theatre, in which digressions and spontaneous detours arise time and again along the way.
