Believe in Christmas! The Swiss Gospel Singers have dedicated their second album entirely to the magic of Christmas. They were accompanied by Chris de Burgh. Following the successful album launch at the Stadtcasino Basel in 2023, the group of around 100 singers, led by Christer Løvold, are once again on tour with the global superstar, getting their audience in the mood for the festive season.

The word ‘gospel’ literally means ‘the good news’ or ‘the glad tidings’. No wonder, then, that gospel music fits perfectly with the festive season. In their concert series, the Swiss Gospel Singers present popular tunes and carols for Advent and Christmas, with lyrics spanning seven centuries. Traditional, modern, contemplative, rousing… Choir director Christer Løvold has rearranged the pieces especially for the choir.

The concert programme is peppered with hits by Chris de Burgh. For the very first time, his Christmas songs have been brought together on a CD. Since 2021, the world-famous Irish singer and composer and the Swiss Power Gospel Choir have been nurturing a musical friendship. De Burgh was the patron of the first album, ‘Amazing Grace’, and performed with the choir on the Swiss TV programme ‘Happy Day’ as well as at two charity concerts in aid of the people of Ukraine. The CD “Believe in Christmas” is a collaborative work by the artists. And on the CD marking the 50th anniversary of the Irishman’s stage career , the Swiss Gospel Singers sing “On this day” alongside him.

Following their spectacular debut at Carnegie Hall in New York, the Swiss Gospel Singers captivate their audience – at times lively, vibrant, fast-paced and playful; at others, melancholic, soulful and gentle. Rhythmic, surprising and guaranteed to give you goosebumps. The choir is accompanied by their Friends, a line-up of superb soloists and musicians: Mélanie Wullschleger-Lacroix, Pau Figueres, Felix Klaus, Mark B. Lay, Petter Udland Johansen, Adam Taubitz, Costi Topalidis and Alex Wäber.
