Beavers or Life in the Wild
a comedy by Myriam Prongué
Doors open: 19:00
An elderly man, who appears to be suffering from dementia, has been living alone in his house since his wife’s death. His two adult children are worried about him, but have little time to look after their father. His daughter Zizi is under constant stress due to her career, and his son Tomo is overwhelmed by the demands of his family. So the two of them – initially against their father’s wishes – hire a carer from Slovakia. As she gets on increasingly well with their father and encourages him to join a beaver conservation club, to which he makes generous donations, Zizi and Tomo become suspicious. And one suspects that their father is not nearly as senile or hard of hearing as his children believe.
‘Biber’ is a humorous play about old age and the place of the elderly in family and society. And it is a satire on the notion of inheritance.
