Christoph Irniger Trio & Ben van Gelder
Digression. Tension. Satisfaction.
Christoph, Lukas and Ziv met at jam sessions in New York in 2011. The Christoph Irniger Trio was born. The energetic interplay of the international bunch is exciting and soothing at the same time. Their three albums so far tell exciting stories, revel in memories and cast a dreamy glance into the future. In the current edition, the band has expanded to feature Dutch alto saxophonist Ben van Gelder. Together they present the album "Open City", released in September 2020 on Intakt Records. Peter Haffner from the NZZ says: "The music has something very contemporary, sound spaces of a world that is out of joint, and at the same time something supratemporal that gives you hold and comfort." Who doesn't need support and comfort in our turbulent times?
