What can we do without? What can't we do without? What do we not want to do without? About a friendship that asks itself questions about renunciation. And what remains when two people meet.
Does doing without always go hand in hand with something unpleasant? Or can we also gain something when we give something up? The work is inspired by Philipp Lepenies' book Verbot und Verzicht. In it, the author mainly reflects on renunciation at a political level and comes to the conclusion that ecological transformation will not succeed without renunciation. The piece, choreographed by Tabea Martin, conveys these topical issues to the young audience in a playful way. The two performers hold up a mirror to themselves and to us and ask about our willingness to do without.
