Milica Djordjević New work for baroque orchestra and contemporary ensemble (2025, première)
Old meets new, baroque meets contemporary. Orchestra La Scintilla and CNZ are attempting a joint concert in which two worlds collide that may not turn out to be as different as one might initially assume. La Scintilla plays music from Rameau's operas Zaïs and Les Boréades, which deal with questions surrounding the transcendence of love, on period instruments. Gérard Grisey was also preoccupied with transcendence: for Sortie vers la lumière du jour, he was inspired by the Egyptian Book of the Dead. Finally, the two orchestras came together in the world premiere of a work written especially for the CNZ and La Scintilla by Serbian composer Milica Djordjević.
