Conrad Ferdinand Meyer

The poet C. F. Meyer (1825-1898) lived in the house for more than twenty years. Many of his unique novellas and poems were written here in Kilchberg. His study, bequeathed to the Zurich Central Library by his daughter Camilla in her will, has been preserved along with the original furniture and library.

An exhibition showcases Meyer's life and work. In the biographical section, Conrad's family environment is presented and portrayed. An actual "work show" recalls his epic and lyrical oeuvre, but also repeatedly illustrates the poet's personality: in photos, in portraits, as a letter writer, with original objects from his everyday life or - most recently - in the death mask.
