‘We’ in Business
Those who recognise the value of care work safeguard prosperity and democracy
What does ‘economy’ actually mean? Our first thoughts might be of complicated figures, abstract banking transactions or the financial markets. The political economist Feline Tecklenburg is aware of this, which is why she phrases her invitation to read as follows: ‘The “we” in “economy” is not the “we” of corporate board members or finance ministers. It is the “we” of all those who care – who change nappies, cook potatoes and help with homework.’
The book explores the economy from the perspective of feminist economics, care work and participation. In conversation with the author, we will discuss questions concerning the relationship between care and the economy, between participation and exclusion, and the redistribution of time, power and money.
Strobel bookshop will be offering a few copies at the bookstall during the evening.
