The Z–A of being a mum – or not. With Camille Fröhlich and Michelle Steinbeck
With insight and humour, Camille Fröhlich explores what it means to become and be a mother, from ‘conception’ to ‘termination’. But it can also be looked at the other way round, from ‘termination’ to ‘conception’. What remains, what is missing? Camille Fröhlich in conversation with Michelle Steinbeck about being a mother and care work.
‘Wahl Familie’ is a book about parenthood and non-parenthood, about care work, physicality, families of origin and chosen families, as well as the spectrum of possibilities ranging from having many children to being childless or child-free. A warm embrace and an empowering invitation to reflect on and discuss familial, romantic and friendly relationships and responsibilities.
The author, Michelle Steinbeck, will host the presentation. She says of *Wahl Familie*: “I wish I could draw, draw like Camille Fröhlich. And see, think and write like that. But I don’t need to: it’s all there. The universal aspects of motherhood and parenthood – they’re in this book.”
