‘The Train Crash’ – a hollow evening with Hart auf Hart
Elisabeth Hart and Rhaban Straumann
A play with sharp dialogue and amusing jibes. A train crash turns into an unexpected theatrical gem.
Swiss author Franz Hohler has written a gripping play tailor-made for the Leipzig-based acting duo from Olten: A train crashes, and this accident brings two lives together. The worlds of a German actress and a Swiss civil protection officer collide. Trapped together, they get to know one another and, bit by bit, regain their freedom of movement.
The story is deeply moving, and the banter between the two passengers – who, trapped between metal and sheet metal, grapple with, amongst other things, the clichés of German and Swiss behaviour – is unintentionally liberating – clever, humorous and with a keen sense of how to handle heavy topics with a light touch.
