The Zurich Petitioners of 1868, world premiere
A choral project exploring musical history, part of ‘Chorische Suite’
The world premiere of Jean-François Michel’s choral suite ‘The Zurich Petitioners of 1868’ highlights a little-known aspect of Zurich’s history: the letters written by the women of Zurich to the government, expressing their desire for fair inheritance rights, access to better education and their plea for ‘the right to vote and stand for election in all social and political matters’ – as early as May 1868.A multifaceted and polyphonic programme featuring over 50 female singers – a truly women’s cause – for everyone!
