DOKFILM - WIDER THAN THE SKY
By Valerio Jalongo
By Valerio Jalongo
What makes us human – at a time when machines are becoming ever more intelligent? WIDER THAN THE SKY seeks answers where art and science meet. This documentary, as inspiring as it is insightful, opens up new perspectives on artificial intelligence – and reminds us that empathy, imagination and collaboration remain our greatest strengths.
Artificial intelligence is changing the world at breakneck speed. Yet the more powerful machines become, the more pressing another question becomes: what actually defines us as human beings?
The Italian-Swiss documentary filmmaker Valerio Jalongo approaches this question in an unusual way. He brings together neuroscientists, AI researchers, artists and the choreographer Sasha Waltz. Amidst dance rehearsals, robotics laboratories and philosophical discussions, a fascinating dialogue emerges about creativity, consciousness and the future of our society.
WIDER THAN THE SKY is not a dystopian film about the dangers of artificial intelligence. Instead, it invites us to imagine possibilities: what if AI were not a competitor, but a tool for greater collaboration? And which abilities might never be programmable – empathy, imagination or the power of collective creativity?
A visually striking and thought-provoking film that makes complex questions accessible without providing simple answers – and which focuses less on the machines than on what makes humans unique.
