Exhibition in the Vaulted Cellar
«nudos de tiempo» by ektor garcia (*1985) shows a temporary constellation of colourful crochet works as well as metal and ceramic sculptures. The sensually knotted chains or meandering motifs blend traces of indigenous craftsmanship from Central and North America with folk art, pop cultural and digital influences. Some crochet works are reminiscent of works from the US fibre art movement of the 1960s. The show at Cabaret Voltaire is ektor garcia's first institutional solo exhibition in Switzerland, curated by Fabian Flückiger and Salome Hohl in close collaboration with the artist.
