After-work nibbles – On chickens and human cackling...
To tie in with the current temporary exhibition ‘Chickens – Underestimated Poultry’, we take a look at bird courtship, human ‘clucking’ and the theory of sexual selection. Why do male black grouse perform elaborate courtship rituals? What does this have to do with sexual dimorphism in gallinaceous birds? And, intriguingly: are there also biologically explainable characteristics of sexual selection in humans?
After this detour into evolutionary theory, we’ll return to real life – and raise a glass! Over a thematically appropriate drink, we’ll continue our discussion in a relaxed atmosphere. It will become clear just how strongly biology influences our everyday behaviour and experiences. Don’t we also observe clucking and courtship behaviour at the mulled wine stall at the Christmas market?
Short, vivid and inspiring: a concise insight into the hidden stories behind our exhibition, followed by time for discussion and exchange in a relaxed setting. These are our ‘after-work bites’.
