FLAMES & FIRE – Kathak meets Flamenco
Dr Pali Chandra and LaDina Bucher combine Kathak and flamenco in a joint performance with
What happens when two expressive forms of dance come together on stage? The Kathak master Dr Pali Chandra and the flamenco artist LaDina Bucher have been exploring this question since their first collaboration – and ‘Flames & Fire’ is their most comprehensive answer to date.
Although rooted in different cultures, Kathak and flamenco are driven by the same impulses – rhythm, storytelling and the body in full expressive power – and have more in common than one might suppose. This third collaboration, following Angina at the Tanzfest Aarau and Amore at the ToDa Theatre in Dubai, brings both artists and their full ensembles together for an evening that is as much a dialogue as it is a performance.
