Footloose

A musical about rebellion, freedom and the power of youth, written and performed by VoiceSteps | 10+

Dance | Rebellion | Community

The small, conservative town of Bomont has been living under a strict ban for years: following a tragic accident in which several teenagers lost their lives, dancing and loud music have been banned. The town justifies this with a desire for ‘morality and order’, but in reality it stifles every form of joie de vivre and self-expression. When young Ren McCormack moves to Bomont with his family, he cannot accept this oppression. With passion, courage and a touch of rebellious charm, he fights to give the young people back their voice and to break the ban on dancing.

But Ren is not alone: the town’s young people are put to the test. Courage, self-confidence and friendship are needed to stand up against the restrictions. Bomont becomes the stage for a revolution – energetic choreography, touching moments and dancing together allow friendships to flourish and demonstrate just how important freedom and self-determination are.

‘Footloose’ is a musical brimming with energy, joie de vivre, rebellious humour and emotion, which delights young and old alike. It conveys a clear message: those who have the courage to stand up for freedom and self-determination experience true joie de vivre. Change is possible – if you dare to take the first step.

‘Footloose’ is the second co-production between the Theater Casino Zug and the Chamer musical theatre school VoiceSteps, following ‘Jason’ (2025).
