Character Development: A Practical Writing Course in Small Groups

Learn about, apply and take away methods for your writing projects

What qualities must characters possess to hold the reader’s fascination for three or three hundred pages, and to keep them turning the pages?

Why do some characters captivate, whilst others do so less – or not at all?

And how do you ensure that the construction isn’t obvious, that it comes across as believable rather than contrived? That’s what this is all about.

A set of tasks will be sent out in advance. We’ll start with feedback on the texts you’ve submitted. After that, we’ll develop your characters further using various methods. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have applied these methods to a specific text and taken them away with you; they’ve proven to be extremely helpful for a new writing project.
