Generator #79: NN – Adam Pultz
To mark the 79th edition of Generator, Adam Pultz will premiere a new performance for the FAAB (Feedback-Actuated Augmented Bass). This involves a complete overhaul of the instrument’s software as well as the development of new playing techniques to explore the instrument’s feedback behaviour and improvise with it.
The FAAB is an electroacoustic, vibro-tactile feedback double bass, developed in 2019 in collaboration with Halldór Úlfarsson, and has been Adam Pultz’s primary instrument since 2020. Through self-amplification and digital signal processing, the FAAB’s strings enter into complex self-oscillations, thus offering an altered sonic and performative space for exploration.
