Good Time (2017)
Benny Safdie / Josh Safdie, USA 2017; 102 mins, E/d
GOOD TIME draws its audience into the adrenaline-fuelled and almost psychotic maelstrom of a wild night in New York. Starring Robert Pattinson as Connie, who is determined to get his brother Nick (Benny Safdie) out of prison immediately, by any means necessary.
When his younger brother Nick ends up in prison following a botched bank robbery, Connie embarks on a seemingly endless odyssey through New York’s underworld. Raising the money for bail becomes increasingly hopeless, and the situation grows ever more dangerous. As the wild night unfolds, Connie is drawn ever deeper into a mad spiral of violence and chaos.
Constantly on the move and with breathless pacing, this cinematic journey – described as a gritty, electrifying New York thriller – builds to an incredible intensity. An important piece of Safdie film history, featuring Benny Safdie as Nick, a character with a cognitive disability, and an unconventional Robert Pattinson.
