Hands-on
Hands are more than just a part of the body – they are our unique tools, with which we grasp, shape and transform. They are the source of our creativity, a mirror of our emotions and the driving force behind human evolution. Hands connect thoughts with the physical world and enable creative expression.
‘Hands-on’ invites visitors to rediscover the hand in all its facets: from its biological structure to its role in everyday life, in manual work and as a means of communication.
Spanning six sections, the exhibition brings to life the central role the hand plays in design, art and culture – artistic works, research projects, design experiments, artefacts and interactive stations offer new perspectives on hands as tools, creative media and symbols of our humanity. In a world where machines are ubiquitous and artificial intelligence is revolutionising life, the question arises: what do we actually still use our hands for today?
