A Tribute to Czesław Marek

Songs and compositions for violin and piano by Czesław Marek, Chopin, Paderewski and Szymanows

Czeslaw Marek is undoubtedly one of the most significant artists of the 20th century. From 1915 until his death in 1985, he worked as a composer, pianist and music teacher in Zurich. Among his countless pupils are many renowned musicians: the pianists Werner Deller, Hild Hiltl, Theodor Sack and Miriam Saxer; the conductors Anton Knüsel, Peter Maag, Räto Tschupp and Herman Voerkel; the composers Hermann Haller and Hugo Pfister, as well as the musicologist Kurt von Fischer. In addition to numerous international honours (including for Sinfonie Brevis Vienna, the 1928 International Schubert Competition), he was awarded the H. G. Nägeli Medal by the City of Zurich in 1971 for his artistic and pedagogical achievements.

New book launch: Czesław Marek – Portret odnaleziony. Autobiografia, pisma, korespondencja. Books and sheet music featuring compositions by Czesław Marek will be on sale.
