On the ‘Crime Tram’ through Usserstri with G. A. E. Papageorgiu

Europe is united under a single regime; only little Usserstri continues to do as it pleases. The last free corner of Europe. Everything else was annexed by the Republic 87 years ago. G. A. E. Papageorgiu invites you on a tram ride through the Usserstri of the future – before the trams stop running altogether.

In the not-too-distant future, what many already wish for today will finally come true: The Aussersihl and Industrie districts are independent, and the rest of Europe’s inhabitants – those from the Republic – are queuing up to spend the weekend in Usserstri; party tourism is in full swing. But ever since a treacherous murder, things have been a bit rocky in Usserstri too: Jakob Vermeulen, a big shot in the Republic, was shot in the back – and on a Saturday, of all days, when people are supposed to be having fun. In fact, there seems to be something fishy going on in Usserstri – why, for instance, are there two sewer systems, one of which is only in operation at the weekend? Why is it only the party-loving Tou-Tous who receive the mysterious welcome drink after crossing the border?

After the tram ride, Greta Papageorgiu will be signing copies of her book at the Belcafé.
