IS ENOUGH ENOUGH?

We are living beyond our means: our own car, a huge choice in the supermarket, a large flat… If the whole world were to indulge in this lifestyle, the Earth would become uninhabitable for us within a short space of time.

What can we do? ‘Sufficiency’ represents a shift in perspective: away from constantly wanting more, towards a conscious sense of ‘enough’. What framework do we need to make sustainable choices easier – from transport and housing to diet and working hours? How much do we need to do without, and how can this still improve our quality of life? And what might a sustainable life – beyond growth and consumption – look like in practical terms?
