Anniversary concert
85 years of the Thalwil Chamber Orchestra
The amateur string orchestra, founded in 1941, is staging a particularly lavish concert to mark its anniversary, featuring well-known classical works, and has even brought in a wind section for the occasion. The concert opens with the overture to Beethoven’s ballet music *The Creatures of Prometheus*. It concludes with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1.
In between, the young violinist Annouk Brönnimann will perform; she grew up in Rüschlikon and, exactly ten years ago – whilst still a schoolgirl – gave a brilliant performance of Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1 with the Thalwil Chamber Orchestra. She has since completed her musical training, is a member of the first violins in the Zurich Opera Orchestra, and is now, as a mature artist, reprising the virtuoso solo part. The former violin pupil of orchestra conductor Maya Wenger is, so to speak, celebrating her own little
anniversary.
