KAWLA at the Grossmünster
Concert to mark Shirana Shahbazi’s intervention
Peyman Salehyan and Siavash Namehshiri, hailing from Berlin and Zurich respectively, come together at the Grossmünster to blend Kurdish musical traditions with electronic and improvised music. Their collaborative work explores themes of memory, diaspora and musical transformation. The concert is framed by DJ listening sets from Sirena (Zurich) and Agnes Leclaire (Basel), who will open and close the evening with their sounds. Curated by MigrArt.

Under the name Kawla, Peyman Salehyan and Siavash Namehshiri blend Kurdish and Iranian musical traditions with electronic, contemporary and improvised music. Siavash Namehshiri is a Kurdish composer, musician, curator and organiser from Iran who lives in Zurich. Since arriving in Switzerland in 2009, he has been working in the fields of improvisation and contemporary electronic music. Peyman Salehyan was also born in Iran and now lives in Berlin as a composer and musician. He plays the tar and setar and studied music at the University of Art in Tehran. He later taught at the University of Applied Science and Technology (UAST) and has received numerous awards for his musical work, including at the International Fajr Music Festival.
