Filus’s wondrous colours – a chameleon loses its colours
ZURICH READS – Children’s book reading with Andrea Seehafer and Leila Merkofer
Andrea Seehafer talks about her picture book, lovingly illustrated by Leila Merkofer. The story is about friendship, saying goodbye, sadness, helping one another and being there for one another.
Oskar the swallow spends the winter in Africa, where he meets Filu, the cheerful and colourful chameleon. The two become the best of friends. When Oskar flies back to Europe in the spring, Filu is inconsolable. He loses all his colours and sits sadly in his tree. Will his friends from the steppe manage to cheer him up again?
Following the reading, illustrator Leila Merkofer draws funny ‘double animals’ on her tablet – the children guess what sort of fantasy creature is being created and give it a suitable name. Finally, every child gets to make their own chameleon and take it home.
