KIWITT, come on, everyone!

An immersive theatrical journey

For decades, it lay undiscovered amongst the papers of one of the 20th century’s most significant thinkers: Hannah Arendt’s only fairy tale. Now it is being performed for the very first time – right in the heart of the picturesque grounds of Villa Grunholzer in Uster.

The Zurich-based writer Hildegard E. Keller came across the handwritten text in Arendt’s estate and transcribed it from airmail papers written on both sides. What she discovered in the process surprised even the experts: a playful, poetic, humorous Hannah Arendt, a far cry from her reputation as a stern theorist.

At the heart of the story is a little girl searching for her favourite goose, who learns the language of birds and encounters the wisest animals in the world on her journey. A story about courage, trust and the desire to understand the world. With a happy ending, as it should be.

For this event, the cultural institutions Central Uster and Villa Grunholzer are joining forces for the first time to present this enchanting tale as an immersive station theatre: the audience wanders through the park together, encounters the characters up close and becomes part of the journey themselves. The call “Kiwitt, kiwitt, come along, everyone!” brings young and old together as a community on a journey of discovery.

The play is designed for children as much as for adults – visually striking and adventurous for some, philosophically profound for others.

A co-production by CENTRAL USTER and VILLA GRUNHOLZER.
