Songs Without Words

Trombonist Michael Flury and pianist Simone Keller perform well-known classical songs by Franz Schubert alongside extremely rarely heard songs by female jazz composers such as Lil Hardin Armstrong and Irene Higginbotham, who wrote a world-famous jazz standard (“Good Morning Heartache”).

The Flury/Keller duo transcends stylistic boundaries, juxtaposing Lil Armstrong’s ‘Bad Boy’ with Schubert’s love-struck miller’s apprentices, and creates a seamless transition from ‘Oriental Swing’ to ‘Auf dem Strom’.
