When winter shrouds Switzerland in mist, a ‘Schwedenstubete’ with Nordic sounds warms the heart and soul.
Jazz singer Marianne Racine and violin virtuoso Pär Näsbom have been living in Switzerland ‘for ages’, but they rarely manage to shake off their ‘songs of homesickness’… Fortunately, in December, Saint Lucia, the patron saint of light, is traditionally celebrated with wonderful songs, complete with snowflakes and icy cold. Then heartache and polska dancing with stomping feet take centre stage, and the odd old hit – even some blues – lurks in the background. Tall tales follow Swedish crash courses, and when the band really gets going, your ears will be ringing and your eyes sparkling!
