Markus Bless: Art in the Park
Sculpture exhibition in the park
The ‘Art in the Park’ exhibition presents the ‘Solitaire’ series of sculptures by Markus Bless. The Paris-trained sculptor has been exploring the theme of ‘people and their environment’ for over 40 years. His works, characterised by abstract forms, aim to direct the viewer’s perception to the essential through reduction. The ‘Solitaire’ concept explores the complex relationship between solitude and society. The term ‘Solitaire’ is deliberately ambiguous, encompassing both solitude and uniqueness – a loner as well as a single-cut diamond. The sculptures, whose movement is created by a cut in the material, symbolise not only the harshness of the human struggle, but also the necessity of movement and change. The empty spaces around the sculptures are no coincidence; they invite the viewer to look beyond the obvious and perceive something new.
Through his work, Bless aims to encourage people to be more courageous and to become aware of their uniqueness. As Michelangelo once said: ‘Art has the task of keeping alive what is so important and necessary for us as human beings.’
The exhibition has ended, but the exhibits in the park remain freely accessible at all times.
