‘My Sound, My Journey’ by Wael Sami Elkholy
The Swiss-Egyptian musician, singer and oud player Wael Sami Elkholy takes the audience on a personal journey between Cairo and Switzerland. Through music, songs and storytelling, he weaves together memories from his childhood, encounters along his life’s journey and his experiences as an artist navigating different cultures.
His own compositions are interwoven with Arabic songs and musical settings of texts by Swiss authors such as Raphael Urweider and Pedro Lenz. The result is a multi-layered evening that explores themes of home and foreign lands, loss and new beginnings, tradition and artistic freedom. With the oud, vocals and electronic sounds, Wael Sami Elkholy creates an intimate space for listening, in which personal stories and musical worlds merge.
