Literary Miniatures: A practical, intensive workshop in small groups

Short and ultra-short formats are special forms – strangely underrated, long out of fashion – but better times now lie ahead for them. In the English-speaking world, they are making a big comeback.

We deal with stories that are six words or three sentences long; that’s thinking and writing under a magnifying glass. When you’re then allowed to write a half-page miniature, that’s almost extravagant.

In fact, miniatures are a luxury: a lot of work for very little story; time and result are at odds with one another. But it’s so rewarding when, at the end, you feel: now it’s exactly as I wanted it to be – that tiny little story that lingers and extends beyond its ending.
