Models – Shaping Knowledge
Models shape our understanding of the world. They make knowledge visible, translate complex issues and concepts into comprehensible forms, and enable us to communicate and understand interrelationships. At ETH Zurich, they have been giving shape to thought for more than 150 years: as teaching aids and as indispensable tools of research, they tell the story of the ideas, questions and discoveries of their time.
The exhibition ‘Models – Shaping Knowledge’ showcases more than 500 historical and contemporary exhibits from the collections of ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich, many of which are on public display for the first time. It offers a comprehensive insight into the diversity of models: from anatomy and geometry to crystallography and aerodynamics.
Curated by Roberta Spano and Dr Dorothe Zimmermann
