PHÖNIX – Music and Resilience

Contemporary classical music from the late Romantic period to the present day

Doors open: 6.30 pm

This chamber concert featuring Claudia Kühne and Edward Rushton invites you to listen, discover and pause for a moment.

The programme, which will be presented by a host, spans a wide stylistic range: from the late Romanticism of Henriëtte Bosmans, through Olivier Messiaen, to the meditative, jazz-infused ‘Dervish’ dance by Errollyn Wallen – complemented by new compositions by the duo. The focus is on women composers and on music as a source of comfort, strength and hope in times of crisis.

Brief introductions provide insight into the works, their biographical contexts and the themes of memory, resilience and new beginnings – even for those with no prior knowledge of music.
