Prof. Dr Fabio Sticca is Professor of Diagnostics and the Promotion of Socio-Emotional and Psychosomatic Development at the Intercantonal University of Special Education (HfH). He leads various studies on the topic of ‘digital media’ – including KiDiM (Children and Digital Media) and SWIPE (Swiss Study on Preschool Screen Exposure).

Digital media have become an integral part of everyday life for adults and young children alike – yet their effects remain a subject of considerable debate. The lecture shows how children in Switzerland aged between zero and five use digital media and what potential consequences this may have for their development. Fabio Sticca contextualises these findings – which provide impetus for an objective and nuanced debate as well as for educational practice – within the current state of international research.
