Próspera. A visit to the libertarian private city – live reports

‘Próspera’ – that is the name of the libertarian private city which aims to function with as few laws, taxes and state interventions as possible. It is currently being built by tech investors, crypto enthusiasts and biohackers on the Honduran island of Roatán. The vision of greater freedom, innovation and progress is countered by fears of a project with little democratic oversight, one that serves to enrich a select few whilst ignoring local residents and their rights.

For his report, Nik Afanasjew visited the self-proclaimed ‘city of the future’. He spoke with both libertarian visionaries and entrepreneurs, as well as with local residents. Afanasjew succeeds in painting a portrait of a place where the obscene power struggles of our time are concentrated within a very small space.
