REFEUDALISATION – How the world’s richest are reaching for political power

Whether it is Musk, Thiel or Trump – new rulers who make no distinction between the private and public spheres, or between business and politics, are seeking world domination. Money and power are concentrated in the hands of a few. Their symbiosis is eroding democracy, the market and the rule of law from within. There is a grave danger that state authority will merge with the most powerful private-sector interests to such an extent that the extreme inequalities, despotism and privileges that modern civilisation thought it had overcome will resurface.
Massimo De Carolis traces this development right back to its roots in Western modernisation. He warns of an impending collapse of democracy and highlights ways in which we can avert this catastrophe.
