‘Right in the Wrong Life’ with Marina Vidovic
How do you carry on living when everything that defines your life suddenly ceases to be true? Marina Vidovic tells her incredible but true story of an embryo mix-up that leads two sisters on a harrowing search for their identity.
By chance, Marina’s sister Kristina discovers that, based on her blood group, she cannot possibly be related to her parents. The truth is even more shocking: it turns out that a stranger’s embryo was implanted at the maternity clinic where her mother gave birth, and that Marina is also affected – she was created as a random genetic mix in a test tube. Although she is her mother’s daughter, it is not yet possible to determine who the father is.
A biographical narrative that sheds light on responsibility and power in everyday medical practice, whilst also serving as a socio-political analysis. A powerful plea for the right to one’s own story and the importance of identity in a complex world.
