Ronja, the Robber’s Daughter

Puppet theatre based on the novel by Astrid Lindgren | Ages 6 and over

Adventure | Friendship | Fantasy

Ronja and Birk, children from two rival bands of robbers, become friends. They refuse to carry on their parents’ hostilities, leave home and spend a summer together deep in the forest. ‘Ronia, the Robber’s Daughter’ tells a story of growing up, of life between civilisation and nature, of friendship, love and hate. Big questions are explored in a playful way: How can we live together peacefully? How do we deal with conflicts? What strengthens relationships? How do we want to live?

Astrid Lindgren’s story comes to life in this stage adaptation. Touching and humorous, featuring live action and puppetry, an ever-changing set design and live music, the production explores timeless, existential questions about human interaction.

The Figurentheater St. Gallen and the Theater Sven Mathiasen work closely together. Their diverse programme for children, young people and families ranges from classical to modern plays and is often combined with other art forms such as drama, animated film and live music.
