Ursli the Bell-Ringer

Children’s musical for the whole family | 5+

Home | Tradition | Friendship

“High up in the mountains, far from here, lives a little boy just like you.” Thus begins one of the best-known Swiss children’s books by Selina Chönz and Alois Carigiet. The musical ‘Schellen-Ursli’ is touring throughout German-speaking Switzerland and will be stopping off at the Theater Casino Zug this Christmas.

At the annual Chalandamarz festival in the Engadin, the boy Ursli refuses to settle for the smallest bell. In a daring move, he runs with Mür the mouse to his parents’ mountain hut to fetch the family’s beautiful, large bell. But the journey there through deep snow is exhausting and dangerous. Will the two of them manage to bring the big bell back to the village?

This thrilling and deeply moving production by Brigitt Maag and Paul Weilenmann – known for their fabulous ‘Karl’s kühne Gassenschau’ shows – has already captivated thousands. ‘Schellen Ursli’ is a children’s musical about courage, friendship, family and a great adventure.
