‘Dazzling Bubbles’ | 45 minutes with Simone Lappert

Author Simone Lappert responds to the exhibition ‘Schillernde Blasen. Friedrich Glauser – Nando von Arb’ and reads from her own work.

Simone Lappert, Nando von Arb and Friedrich Glauser are linked by the common theme of fear. At the heart of Lappert’s debut novel *Wurfschatten* (Metrolit 2014) is the actress Ada, whose everyday life is increasingly thrown into disarray by fears and panic attacks: from A for ‘assassination’ to Z for ‘cyst’ – Ada fears for her life. In the graphic novel *Fürchten lernen* (Edition Moderne 2023), Nando von Arb (*1992*) depicts various experiences of fear that affect him and his generation. And Friedrich Glauser (1896–1938) recounts in *Damals in Wien* (1938) his childhood, which was marked by the early death of his mother and a domineering father. Together with the visitors, Simone Lappert guides them through the exhibition, offering her own perspectives on the themes explored within and sharing excerpts from her own works.

Simone Lappert (*1985) studied creative writing at the Swiss Literature Institute in Biel. She now lives and works as a freelance writer in Zurich. Following her debut novel, she has published a further novel and a collection of poems (Diogenes 2019/2022), as well as texts in various anthologies. She is also involved in various art projects, both in a literary and performative capacity, and runs literature workshops.

The event is part of the Zürich liest 2026 festival.

The exhibition is open before and after the event: from 1 pm to 4 pm.
