Serdar Somuncu | HASSIAS
Cabaret
Serdar Somuncu’s new show can only be experienced in such an intimate setting at the Central Uster!
A two-year hiatus. Two years of silence. Two years during which the world believed itself to be safe. But now he’s back: Hassias. The high priest of insult. The messiah of contempt for humanity. Serdar Somuncu brings his fictional religious community back to the stage – uncompromising, cabaret-style and as politically incorrect as it gets.
Under the motto ‘Every minority has a right to discrimination’, Somuncu, as Hassias, tears apart everything that considers itself sacrosanct: political correctness, the culture of outrage, moral arrogance – and you.
No one is spared. Everyone is hit just as hard. An evening for anyone who doesn’t need a trigger warning. A show for people who are prepared to question themselves. A comeback that needs no applause – just open-mouthed astonishment.
Serdar Somuncu was born on 3 June 1968 in Istanbul; he studied acting, music and directing in Maastricht and Wuppertal. Since 1985, he has directed numerous plays, worked as an actor, appeared in TV and radio productions, and enjoyed success on stage as a cabaret artist and musician. Alongside his work on stage, he has published several books: *Der Adolf in mir*, *Karneval in Mio*, *Zwischen den Gleisen*, *das Hasstament*, *Matchpointe* and *Lügen* with WortArt Verlag.
