Somi
Singer, composer and author Somi Kakoma grew up between Illinois and Zambia as the daughter of immigrants from Uganda and Rwanda. She discovered her musical identity in walking the cultural bridge between America and Africa, fusing jazz, soul and the music of her roots in the most elegant way. Her most recent live album "Holy Room" with the Frankfurt Radio Big Band earned her a Grammy nomination in the category "Best Jazz Vocal Album" in 2021, making her the first African woman ever to be nominated in one of the Grammy's jazz categories.
