Swing/Blues Band-Workshop
8-session course starting on Thursday 27 August 2026, 6.45–8.15 pm
This course focuses on music from the Great American Songbook: tunes such as ‘All of Me’, ‘My Funny Valentine’, ‘Night and Day’, ‘Summertime’, ‘Days of Wine and Roses’ and ‘West End Blues’. The emphasis will be on improvisation and the arrangement of each piece. Each participant will contribute their own solo, allowing them to add their ‘own touch’ to the pieces.
The course is aimed at pianists, bassists, drummers (with experience in a band context), percussionists, guitarists, and players of wind and string instruments. Basic proficiency on the instrument, the ability to read music, and experience in improvisation are required.
